The Honda Insight features a hybrid powertrain, meaning it sources the energy needed to move from a combination of two sources. One source is a 1.5L Atkinson-cycle 4-cylinder engine and the other being an electric motor.

Because it doesn’t rely purely on gas power but also utilizes electric energy to reduce the amount of gas needed, it’s able to get an EPA-estimated 55 city/49 highway MPG in its EX trim level while still producing up to 151.5 horsepower.^* You can also switch among various driving modes depending on the performance you’re looking for. These include:  

• ECON: To help maximize fuel efficiency, switch to ECON mode.
• Sport: Enjoy an enhanced, more spirited driving experience in this mode.
• EV: Make a short trip to the store or to drop off the kids at school using only electric power with this mode.
